I'd read a lot about Lady Lamington and have wanted to visit for a long time. A few months back I came by on a Monday and it was sadly closed like most cafes do on the hospitality weekend. However am now happy to see that they are now open 7 days a week. Initially I stopped by with Ruby just on a whim for afternoon tea but couldn't help myself but return this morning with Austin to sample the breakfast menu.
Upon my first visit Ruby was very, very impressed. She looked on in awe as her Chocolate milk was shaken in a cocktail tumbler, poured than topped with coco pops right before her eyes. She did tell me it was a great milk shake too. She loved the black forrest butterfly cake as well. The other thing we both noticed was the staff were genuinely friendly and happy which imo is probably one of the best things about this place. No use having a wonderful place to eat with beautiful food if you don't feel welcomed, and we did feel just that.
On return in the morning with Austin, even though it was different staff the same had to be said that the service was great and friendly. We sat at a beautifully finished rustic wooden table. That's the other thing I really love about this place, the fact that they have really worked hard on the finishes like the wood grains and crystals. Austin felt very special sipping juice on one of their big dining chairs.
The house brew is Black Sheep and The mocha i had yesterday was light and subtle and not too over powering. I was also quite delighted with the cute little bottle of milk served with my Earl Grey this morning. Again it's these little touches that I find just finish this place beautifully.
Both my children absolutely loved this place and like me are dying to come back. We never had any problem with being seated and our meals came quickly, there was cutlery set at every table. while the staff were extremely helpful. I had read things contrary so it appears to me that if that was the case they have certainly taken any criticism on board because I really couldn't fault any of the service both this morning and yesterday afternoon. Before breakfast I also made no mention of blogging our visit.
